Lorde & Disclosure at the BRIT Awards (Video)

Lorde & Disclosure

Lorde and Disclosure seemed to be nominated for just about everything last night, along with Rudimental and One Direction. They paired up for a strong performance of the “Royals” remix with the British brothers, followed by “White Noise” with AlunaGeorge. I really dug the stage set up. The BRIT Awards were all in all enjoyable. It’s funny to see all of the American artists there sounding like this is merely an opportunity to plug an upcoming tour. If you missed the awards, you can find the other performances online, including Beyonce, Pharrell, and Katy Perry.

††† make television debut on Kimmel (Video)

Crosses released their debut self-titled album yesterday and in support, paid Jimmy Kimmel Live a visit for their television debut. ABC aired “Epilogue” in its entirety, but only the intro portion of “Bitches Brew”. Poor choice in my opinion. It is funny to see Chino looking like he’s ready to start salsa dancing at times during the performance though. Watch both performances. Of course we get to hear Chino get his Deftones on at the end “Bitches Brew”. Great debut.

Tim’s Kitchen Tips: Chili Cook Off (Video)

pitzman's mustard

Just when you thought Wareheim had put an end to Tim’s Kitchen Tips, Heidecker returns with an unsuspecting Internet critic of the series being challenged to a chili cook off. Kitchen Tips is probably my favorite thing that JASH has done. Hope this Pitzman’s sponsored series sticks around.

Kendrick Lamar gets shut out at the Grammy’s – NJNews

KENDRICK LAMAR FUCK THE GRAMMYS

In a display of confirming everyone’s opinion that the Grammy’s are a joke, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were given “Best Rap Album” of 2013 over Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West. Other nominees included Jay-Z for Magna Carter and Drake for Nothing Was The Same, neither of which were that solid of releases but still outshine the nonsense that these two dopes put out. Kendrick was shut out across the board, proving the Grammy’s pay no attention to what is actually good but instead care about what is popular. Katy Perry nominated for “Song of the Year” for that embarassment of a song? Get your head out of your asses. At least Kendrick got to shine for a bit up there when he collaborated with Imagine Dragons to perform “Radioactive” and “m.a.A.D. City”. Check out the performance below and download the official remix for “Radioactive”.

New Jawn of the Week – Alexandra Daddario

Alexandra Daddario - NJOTW

If you’re watching the HBO series True Detective, then you already have likely hit the Interweb to look up what else Alexandra Daddario has been in. The NYC native has been in a few flicks but nothing that would have allowed her to show off her naughty side. Daddrio is 27 with a mix of Irish, Italian, and Czech in her and stars as Woody Harrelson’s side piece in the new cop drama on HBO. In her indtroductory scene, she cuffs Woody up, does a little strip tease which I’m sure had him living up to his name, then gives him a good ol’ fashion mouthy. Way to make your entrance baby girl. The actress says the nude scene wasn’t that awkward so I’m sure there will be more to come. True Detective premieres new epsiodes every Sunday at 9pm. It’s only a few weeks in, so catch up quick to see more of the current NJOTW.

What happens when Tim has sore lips? Check out the second episode of the latest from Tim & Eric, a web series called Dr. Wareheim to find out. These boys love to kiss each other. Such good buddies. Check out the debut episode while you’re at it. So many gross noises. Fledgling gulps.

Nelson Mandela dead at 95 years old – NJNews

Posted in Gone Too Soon, New Jawn Exclusive, Politics, Television, World News with tags , , , , on December 5, 2013 by New Jawn

Mandela

We lost a hero today after a long battle with health issues at the age of 95.  Nelson Mandela was a President, a statesman, a prisoner but most importantly a humanist.  He served 27 years in prison to fight segregation and raise up against the white minority in South Africa.  Mandela was one of the most powerful and inspirational men that ever lived and he claimed that he used the power of sports to unite people.

Let’s take a look at some of his achievements.  He opened Africa’s first black law firm, he stopped a civil war with reason and peace,  he educated the youth instead of finishing his college degree, he became the first black president in S. Africa, and finally he ended the apartheid.

Mandela died today at 1:50 pm EST surrounded by friends and family in his house outside Johannesburg.  Rest in peace to the father of South Africa.

Tim & Eric's Go Pro Show

Tim & Eric are back with a six episode web series called Tim & Eric’s Go Pro Show that follows the every day lives of the comedy favorites. Check out the first two episodes that premiered yesterday and today on YouTube. Not much going on, but you do get to see the guys receive calls from Hollywood big wigs like Spielberg and Pacino. I wonder who will drop them a line in the next episode. Plenty of goofs and pranks to come, I hope.

Divine Fits on Kimmel (Video)

divine fits on kimmel

Divine Fits performed a couple tracks on Jimmy Kimmel Live during the week and I’m just getting around to giving them a watch. They blessed us with a track fronted by each of their singers. Surprisingly, neither was a track I would have expected, but that’s just fine. I don’t give some of the later tracks off A Thing Called Divine Fits enough play.

Justin Timberlake on SNL

Justin Timberlake made his 5th hosting visit to Saturday Night Live last night and brought a bunch of celebrities with him, including Hov for a performance of “Suit & Tie”. JT did most of his recurring characters from his SNL history. No Barry Gibb Talk Show though. R.I.P. Robin Gibb. The second performance was “Mirrors”. No outro. Bummer.

Action Bronson smoking

“That’s why I need to be milked, cuz I’m grazing all day”… Action Bronson stops by Tim Westwood TV to chop it up while across the pond. Listen for some ridiculous shit. “You never ate sushi off a black hooker” had to be the best line of this shit. Bronson is a beast. All high on wax. What the fuck?

SANTIGOLD

Santigold contributes a new track for the upcoming soundtrack to the HBO series Girls. The show impressed me with their music selections throughout the season, but much of it wasn’t new introductions. Just good choices. Glad to see a mix of new and old tunes will be included on the show’s compilation. Check out the latest from Santigold.

Solange & Dev Hynes together on Fallon (Video)

Solange & Dev Hynes

Dig this track heavy. I’m sure the fact that Dev Hynes wrote and produced it is playing a heavy role in that, but Solange seems to heavy a nice throwback R&B style going on anyway. The Weeknd is the future of R&B music. He was able to get us all on board by giving away three free mixtapes and merged them into his debut Trilogy release. He made his debut on Jools Holland the other night. Check out Abel performing “Wicked Games” on the BBC program.

Rihanna debuts new track on SNL (Video)

Posted in Pop, Television with tags , , on November 11, 2012 by New Jawn

Rihanna came back to SNL last night and performed two tracks off her upcoming album, Unapologetic. The single “Diamonds” isn’t her best hit in my opinion, but I did enjoy the debut of “Stay” as the second performance. Host Anne Hathway wasn’t too funny, but still had a few laughs.

Rihanna – Lost In Paradise (Cloud, MP3)

Rihanna keeps the singles coming with her next from Unapologetic. “Lost In Paradise” sounds more like a radio hit than the first track “Diamonds”. I’m sure both will get performed this weekend on SNL, when Rihanna is the musical guest along with Anne Hathaway. Couple babes on the tube. Set the DVR.
